What is an Epoch?

An epoch is a 5-day reward cycle. Instead of receiving rewards continuously (which creates a trackable fingerprint), Crosslink bundles all staking activity into batches. At the end of each epoch, rewards are distributed to everyone at once — making it impossible to trace individual stakers by timing.

Why the wait?

Think of it like a hotel checkout: you can't damage the room and leave immediately. The waiting period ensures that if someone tries to cheat or attack the network, their staked ZEC is still locked, giving the community time to identify the bad actor and take action before they can escape with their funds.

The good news: If you're an honest staker (which you are), this is just a short wait. Your ZEC is never at risk. You simply can't access it for a few days after requesting withdrawal. No penalties for going offline, no surprise fees. Just patience.

Decentralization

Only ~100 finalizers can be active at once. Spreading stake across many strengthens the network.Consider smaller finalizers — the network is healthier when no single entity dominates.
